Sarah Fox has joined the executive team of the UK Gambling Commission. The senior official from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) began her new role on July 30, 2026.
Fox is seconded from the DCMS to direct the Commission’s Policy and Research functions, Statistics, and National Lottery regulation. She brings over 23 years of civil service experience, holding operational and strategic positions within the Home Office, Department of Health and Social Care, Cabinet Office, and Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
Previous Experience and Sector Oversight
For the past four years, Fox led the Gambling and Lotteries team at the DCMS. Her responsibilities included managing the gambling white paper implementation, overseeing the transition to the fourth National Lottery licence, and providing policy oversight for society lotteries and horse racing.
Sarah Gardner, acting chief executive, stated that Fox’s existing knowledge of the sector would support the Commission’s strategy. Fox noted that she has observed the Commission’s expertise and achievements during her time at the DCMS.
This appointment follows recent restructuring within the senior leadership team at the Gambling Commission.
